Countdown – May 22 – 28, 2023

Peak Week – Triathlon

During this week we are going to tapering into race pace efforts. It is important to be consistent with your workouts and stay focused during this week. Make sure you are resting properly and eating a balanced diet. It is important to start laying out your nutrition plan based upon the efforts asked for you in these key workouts.

You should also be getting familiar with the race course and start to visualize yourself completing it. This week will serve as the finishing touches in your preparation for the race.

The goal of this week is to stay healthy and get ready for a peak performance come race day. Make sure you are checking in with your body. Pay attention to any niggles or aches and take the necessary steps to address them.

Be sure to get plenty of rest so you can be well rested for race day. Remember that a triathlon is at least 70% mental, so keep positive visualizations going throughout this week and stay focused on the ultimate goal of crossing that finish line! Good luck!

The key workouts for this week are:

-Specific long endurance swim, bike and runs (with race pace efforts)

-Brick workout (bike to run with race pace efforts)

-Run intervals (race specific paces)

-Optional strength and/or yoga session.

Good luck in your preparations and best of luck on race day! Have fun and remember to enjoy the journey!

Weekend of December 17 – 18, 2022

Good afternoon team,

Stacy Focused!

Enclosed you will find the revision of this week!

Schedule

It’s going to be cold outside!

Holiday Savage Run – 1st Annual Event

CFL Tri Club Holiday Party – Dec 18, 2022 – 5:00 pm – 7 pm

CFL Tri Club / Tri Peak Athlete Warriors

It is time to show off your culinary streak by whipping up some family delicacy, or something holiday themed. It’s a laid back contest where everyone is the judge.

Address: 904 Spring Park Loop, Celebration, FL

There will be three categories of prizes –

  1. Most Creative/Best Holiday Theme
  2. Best Tasting Food or Drink
  3. Best Tasting Dessert

We have hosted this party in the past, and had some great entries, like “Dasher’s Disaster”, meatloaf shaped like a reindeer that had been run over by a Jeep, or “Whoa, Whoa, WHOA!”, a complete gingerbread house with Santa and his reindeer piled up on the front lawn.

You are not required to bring a homemade dish, and don’t worry, if you just want to bring something store bought; that’s fine too.

For you competitors, here are a few hints –

  1. Make your dish easy to eat. Finger foods works well, or something that is easy to divide up.
  2. Make enough food, but smaller portions, I’m sure there will be a lot to eat.
  3. Bring what you need to serve your food, and serving utensils.
  4. This is one party where arriving early is preferable. Food should be presented and ready to eat at 5:30, as judging will commence at that time.
  5. Seconds and thirds are encouraged, especially when trying to decide on who to vote for but let everyone get a taste…no fair trying to eat all of the competition.

Here is a hint for the more competitive in the bunch: Making it “showy” with a cute name – it tends to influence the judges. 🙂

There will be trivia awards too!!!

Post Race Fueling

As we are aware leading into our races, we are burning a ton of calories and crushing our workouts. We fuel our bodies for our performances; however, when our race is over… many of you stop training completely… it is important to recover at the same time we need to remain active and fuel for recovery. Allow yourself a cheat meal the day after the race and please fuel for proper healing. If poor choices are made, you will have unnecessary weight gain and you will lose fitness. If you need guidance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
