East Coast Ride – New Smyrna

Ride the beautiful Beravrd/Volusia section of the Florida Coast to Coast Trail! There are very few road crossings and long stretches of flat fast trail! The section we are riding goes from Mims to Sanford with a Spur out to New Smyrna!

St. George Training Camp

Club After Hours Social – June 4, 2021

Hang up the cycling shoes, the bathing suit and the running shoes. Join us for a glass of wine or water. We are going to meet at Santiago Bodega on June 4, 2021 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Do not bring training gear. Our goal is to relax! No one is judging you on what you are going to eat!

Clermont Sprint Triathlon – June 5, 2021

Get ready to race!

On June 5, 2021, Sommer Sports will be hosting their first Summer Series Triathlon. The Special Olympic Team will be racing as well. We will have the tent out there, some coolers with refreshments for after the race. We can hang out and spend some time at the lake afterwards. It is the first week right after racing, so let’s have fun. We will host an open water swim clinic and then have bagels, drinks and a good time. Bring your lawn chair, umbrella and extra food and let’s have a good time. We will be playing lots of games such as volleyball and such. Please bring your Tri Club Shirt for a team photo.

Friday – Swim

Open Water Swim

Friday 6:30 am regular Lucky’s Lake swim

Just because you are doing an open water swim doesn’t mean that your only goal is to get to the other side. Make sure each swim count. Please follow this open water workout.

Warm up: 15 min Build
Main Set:
4 x
20 strokes Fast tempo
20 strokes Easy with strong Kick
30 Strokes Fast Tempo
20 strokes Cruise
5 stroeks Recovery
-Return to shore and repeat –
Note: ont he tempo and cruise sets, sight every 10 strokes.
Tip: when you increase your tempo, try to swim fast. Anyone can swim “hard”; not everyone swims fast. Increase speed to drop your compettion or people trying to draft on your heels.


Friday 6PM virtual Golden Mile®  We have a mass start at 6pm, there will be no timing, no lifeguards, you may use pull buoys, fins, snorkels, wetsuits etc. You will get your T-shirt, Swag bag, survivor medallion (if you live to finish).

This past weekend, I spent it with my athlete that I coach in Salt Lake City. It was great to spend time with them.

Friday – Swim

Warm up

– 200 free / 200 kick / 200 pull with buoy / 200 free all at 65-75 %

Drill work

6 x 50 m as 25 fist drill / 25 free style Wk the 15 sec recovery ( take your time on doing this drill I want you to emphasize on theory on how much water you’re grabbing with your forearm on the catch phase of your stroke)

8 x 50 m as 25 single arm drill with the opposite arm extension in front of you / 25 free style wi tho 15 sec recovery (when doing the single arm drill, your primary emphasis is fully extending the arm when it enters the water, catching water and we’re forcefully catching water and to throw the water back towards your hip. If your hand is not scratching your thigh you’re cutting your stroke too short. The opposite arm is extended in front of you the entire time.)

Main set:

2 rounds of the following

  • 200 free at 85% with 15 sec recover
  • 100 kick fast with board
  • 150 free at 95% with 20 sec recovery
  • 100 kick fast with board
  • 100 free at 100% (race pace) with 30 sec recovery
  • 100 kick fast with board
  • 2 x 50 sprint – all out with 45 sec recovery
  • 100 kick easy
  • Repeat

Tomorrow morning we are going to have two groups. For those who need to start a bit earlier, we are going to have a group starting at 5 am. This will be led by Jen and Carlos. They will come back around and pick up the 6 am group and provide directions.
